Earning a master’s in accounting can help you rise to the top of a lucrative and demanding field. While there is a long term payoff, in the short term it will also help you prepare for the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certification. The CPA is generally the minimum requirement to work in many accounting firms and companies, but an advanced degree is typically the minimum requirement needed to be considered for more senior level positions.

According to Payscale.com, holders of a master’s degree in accounting make about 23% more mid-career than those with a bachelor’s. As accounting-related jobs continue to grow – at about 11% by 2024 – we strive to see students attain the highest return on their education, which could mean earning a master’s in accounting.
