Babson College President Kerry Healey Leads Academic & Business Visit To Vietnam

A Babson College delegation is embarked on a visit with entrepreneurs, business leaders, academics and diplomats March 17-21, 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Vietnam.

Highlights  

Babson College President Kerry Healey will discuss Entrepreneurship and Education during remarks at the American Center in Hanoi at 2 p.m. on March 20, 2017 — “At Babson, we educate entrepreneurial leaders who create great social and economic value everywhere. Our graduates are prepared to lead and make a difference in our rapidly changing world.”   President Healey will share how American universities and colleges foster the spirit of innovation and collaboration and promote entrepreneurship among all students, faculty and alumni.   She will also talk about what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur.

Her visit coincides with the announcement of the 2017 U.S. Ambassador’s Entrepreneurship Challenge. According to the U.S. Mission — “The U.S. Mission to Vietnam is pleased to announce the 2017 U.S. Ambassador’s Entrepreneurship Challenge (AEC), the second annual entrepreneurial competition to encourage innovation and development of Vietnam’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Citizens of Vietnam are invited to apply to compete for exposure, mentorship, and financial support in this national competition.  The AEC is open to startups in one of three categories: Idea and Prototyping Stage; Startup Stage; Social Entrepreneur (in either Idea or Startup Stages).”

President Healey will ring the opening bell of the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange on March 21st and the Babson delegation will meet with HOSE Board Chair Tran Van Dung, among others.

The Babson delegation held a Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry discussion with, among others, Vu Tien Loc, Ph.D., VCCI President and Chairman; and Nguyen Quang Vinh, VCCI Deputy Secretary General, on March 17, 2017.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology hosted a business and academic conversation with the group.

Babson’s Global Advisory Board

Babson’s Global Advisory Board (GAB) international symposium is taking place in conjunction with the Babson Connect Worldwide 2017, being held in Bangkok, Thailand, March 24-26 2017.

The GAB takes Babson to the world and the world to Babson.  Board members serve as ambassadors for the College represent Babson in their countries and communities counsel the President, Trustees, and the Babson Community by providing a global perspective assist students on professional matters and provide meaningful philanthropic support.
