Below is information from the New Britain Museum of American Art web site about its upcoming exhibit on the work of Ruthie Davis M’93.

Ruthie Davis Shoes: Couture, Futuristic Design
Mar. 20 – June 20, 2010
Opening Reception
5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 25, 2010

Following on the heels of the popular Judith Leiber handbag exhibition comes another opportunity to appreciate the fine art of high fashion, this time with Ruthie Davis Shoes: Couture, Futuristic Design. Connecticut native Ruthie Davis M’93 has made an international name for herself with the production of some of the most exciting and innovative footwear in the world. Her shoes are high-style/high tech, and merge the designer’s personal style–referencing architecture, modernism, and future technology—with a lifelong love for 1960s Italian cinema and the larger than life heroines of childhood comic books. This exhibition is a homecoming of sorts for Davis, the youngest daughter of retired Stanley Works Chairman Don Davis and his wife Virginia, former head of the Museum’s Women’s Committee, in whose honor the Davis Gallery was named.
