Hitting the Ground Running
By Gabe Diaz-Barriga | July 10, 2013
Several weeks ago, over 120 startups moved into the 14th floor of ONE Marina Park Drive. The space went from being a quiet haven to a hive humming with activity and pulsing with energy. The accelerator launched with Boot Camp, five intense days packed with headlining speakers and workshops to initiate the finalists into the MassChallenge program. My primary role throughout these five days was to grab stills that capture the story of the events. Below are some of these images.
The Capital Network, a local non-profit that aims to equip entrepreneurs with knowledge of the capital landscape, put together a panel of expert venture capitalists and angels who detailed the many ways early-stage startups can get off the ground.
“Get up early, work hard, and strike oil.” Diane Hessan, Founder and CEO of Communispace, a platform for communities built around brands to enhance the way companies engage their customers, spoke to the importance of finding your core values and allowing these to guide you in your entrepreneurial endeavors. My colleague Andrew DesRoschers wrote more on Diane’s presentation.
The power of MassChallenge’s network is felt almost instantly by the entrepreneurs. I found Ben of Sensible Baby wading through a knee-deep stack of business cards simply trying to follow up with all of the people he had met!
