Snowy Day Thoughts… Summer Internship Search!

With all the snowy weather we have been having lately, it is hard to believe that the summer internship season is approaching faster than we know it. I know, personally, a lot of my friends have been stressing out about not having their summer plans solidified yet. However, this is totally normal! There is still plenty of time to land your ideal summer internship – But, now is the time to act! Here are some steps you can take to help you get on your way to landing your dream internship:
- Internship Fair Follow-Up
For those of you who attended the Internship Fair last week, hopefully you got to network with a lot of great employers and here about the opportunities available at these firms. However, just because the fair is over does not mean your networking is done. If you haven’t already, make sure to follow-up with anyone you spoke with. Send a thank you message that reconfirms your interest in the company and the opportunities available, and also be sure to forward them your resume.
- Review Your Resume
Now that you will be sending out your resume to a lot of different companies, it is a good idea to get someone to look your resume over and see if there are any ways you can improve it. Some great venues for this would be to attend Walk-In hours at CCD (Monday-Thursday from 1pm-4pm). Also consider coming to Employer-in-Residence events where you can have an employer look over your resume while networking and learning about various opportunities at a specific firm. - Upcoming Events & Career Fairs
While the Internship Fair was a great networking opportunity for many students, don’t forget to keep checking out the calendar on Career Connections to see upcoming events. There are a variety of networking events, interview prep sessions, and workshops happening in the coming months. Also, be sure to take note of some of the other internship fairs coming up:

Make the most of these never-ending snow days and jump start your internship search!
