Time Management

Some days I feel like I have more things to do than there is time in the day! As the end of the semester creeps up I have end of term presentations to prepare for, final papers to write, and exams to study for. Among those things I still have to go to class, I have Lacrosse practice every day, night games on weekdays, day games on weekends, and try to fit in a little time to work here at Academic Services! oh, and sleep too! It’s partially my own fault. Professors don’t just walk into class one day and tell you that there is a paper due next week. Most of these end of term assignments are on the syllabus that I received on the first day of class!

Despite my complaints, I can’t help but love the busy-ness of it all. There’s definitely never a dull moment and I wouldn’t give up one of my activities in exchange for free time (except maybe the sleep part, more sleep would be great). The most important thing to do is to learn how to balance everything. If I were to neglect the things I liked to do, like lacrosse, just to focus on my school work I think I would resent the workload and classtime. Instead, because I am able to find an outlet in going to work at one of the Babson offices, as well as playing a sport, I feel like I am better able to focus when its time to study. When I sit down at my desk or in the library I know that I only have a certain amount of time to get my work done so I am able to focus much faster than if I had a  whole day to work on things.

The moral of the story is this: the workload isn’t easy, but you will find your own way to deal with it. Be sure to come prepared, but don’t freak out. It’s important to remember there are so many things to do in college, so be sure to get involved. These four years will go by fast, TRUST ME! and you don’t want to come to the end wishing you had done it differently.
