What Is Your Dream Job?

I remember the first time the idea of myself being an event planner came to my mind. I was having a conversation with a friend in high school and out of nowhere she exclaimed, “You know what I can totally see you doing in the future? Being a wedding planner!” At first I just laughed because it sounded like such an out there statement, but when I actually sat down and thought about it, I realized that I also could see myself being a wedding planner and the idea excited me. For the rest of high school this idea was always in the back of my head, but I had dismissed it as a “dream job”, one that I would never have the chance to pursue. It wasn’t until I started going to school at Babson that I began to reconsider this “crazy” idea. Learning about entrepreneurship and hearing from people’s experiences reminded me that all startups begin with one crazy idea and they are only able to come to fruition if someone is willing to take the risk and pursue their passions.

So, I decided that I would at least give my “dream job” a shot and start by pursuing event planning in general. When I became the co-president for Women Giving Back I was able to turn my ideas for events into reality. Now this summer I have the opportunity to gain further experience in this field through my Event Productions and Operations internship at Rugged Races LLC. It has only been 3 weeks at my internship and I can already tell this summer is going to be full of ups and downs and that I will come out of this with many new experiences.
