Welcome to Babson

Dear Families,

Congratulations!  You must be so proud of your daughter/son that will be matriculating to Babson this fall.  That is quite an achievement.

In my own experience as a parent, sending my daughter off to college was filled with both excitement and trepidation.  I wondered how she would function on her own?  Would she make positive life decisions? Translation; How will my teenager grow and develop into a successful professional, during college?

The Undergraduate Center for Career Development (CCD), in partnership with academics, student life, and other key constituents on campus, works diligently to provide a safe environment for our students’ learning, growth and development.  Specifically, in career services, we seek to grant our students opportunities to explore, reflect, research and discover (and sometimes pivot) career options, through experiential, practical, hands-on experiences.

We focus on “Career Readiness Competencies” as prescribed by NACE (National Association of College and Employers) and assist our students in harnessing both the business acumen and emotional intelligence to succeed as professionals.  Targeted opportunities are crafted and facilitated for our first year students aimed at educating them about the array of career paths and how The Center for Career Development (CCD) supports their career aspirations.

After welcoming our incoming class during Orientation, we will host a variety of events, programming and services (during their first few weeks on campus) designed specifically for first year students; to initiate and engage career related entrepreneurial thought and action (ET&A).  First Year Fridays provide foundational skills for our newest students and Resumania (leveraging our amazing alums during Reunion Weekend) helps to build that first college resume, so students are prepared for Industry Spotlights (networking with industry professionals), followed by our annual Career EXPO (job fair.)

Later this summer we will be reaching out to your students to complete their profiles in our new online career platform, Handshake.  The more robust their profiles, the more opportunities (events, activities, programs, company contacts, internships) that will be sent directly to our students.  Please encourage your students to complete their Handshake profiles.

We are thrilled to welcome the Class of 2021 to Babson and look forward to meeting you and your student when you come to campus. We look forward to an exciting 2017-2018 school year!
