Undergraduate Blog / Defining Your Babson

A means to an end

My summer internship in New York City was a great learning and growing experience. I was able to go out of my comfort zone by living on my own in a new city. I think it’s a necessary experience that every rising senior should pursue before graduating college. I was able to explore the career field I’m interested in and gain invaluable experience in the work place. At first, I was nervous and anxious about going out in a professional setting that could potentially be my future job. However, Babson fully prepares you for this and it was great to be able to apply my knowledge from what I’ve learned in class.  I’m so lucky to have been given this opportunity and would advise future interns to take advantage of the experience.

Some advice:

-Network

-Always be professional

-Don’t be afraid to ask questions

– Get to know the other interns you work with they are in the same position as you and it’s great to hear about their experiences and career aspirations

-Always follow up after meeting someone with an email

– Go out to lunch or coffee with your supervisor and learn more about them and their career path

I would without a doubt do it all over again.
