Class of 2015: Approaching the FinishLine

This post was written by Kayla Hale ’15, CCD Peer Career Ambassador

It’s hard to believe that our final month as Babson Undergrads is here. This last month is crucial in keeping up your grades to ensure a May graduation & preparing for life after Babson. Whether or not you have after graduation plans, there are several steps you should take before the big day:

1. Keep in touch with classmates, professors, office staff, coaches, anyone at Babson you has contributed to your college experience in a positive way. Do this in person- it’s easy to stay connected to classmates via Facebook and other social media, but go to your professor’s/coach’s office and thank them for all they’ve done, and ask if you can keep in touch. So much of college is not “what” you know, but “who” you know – and I have found that who you know is actually more important.

2. Visit the financial aid office to see if you owe anything or to set up a payment plan for loans. Most loan programs will give you 6 month after the day of graduation to begin repaying – but it’s important to know what you owe and start thinking about it! Upcoming SFS drop-in hours for loan repayment questions are below:

Friday  4/3/15 from 10:00 am  – 12:00 pm

Tuesday 4/7/15 from 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Thursday 4/9/15  from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Monday  4/13/15 from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm

Wednesday 4/15/15 from 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm

3. Come to the ‘Backpack to Briefcase… Transition into the Workplace’ event on Wednesday, April 8th @ 7:00PM. This is an awesome opportunity to learn about topics such as: budget planning, benefits, professionalism in the workplace, what to expect on your first day and more (flyer below).

4. Keep an eye out for emails from Samantha Stanley with important exit information!

Most importantly, we need to ENJOY our last month. Take some time to walk around campus and remember where you were and who you were with when you did something, learned something, succeeded or failed at something. Babson has been the best 4 years of my life so far, and I’m excited about what’s to come- hope you found this checklist useful!
