Winter Sports Wonderland

It is no secret that we’ve had an unusually heavy-handed winter this year, but you know what’s great about being in college when it snows? You don’t have to be the person shoveling (unless some of you entrepreneurial types want to make a few extra dollars)!

You know what’s also great about college in the winter weather? The activities don’t stop, especially on campus; there’s still a bunch of stuff going on to be checked out by students. As we head into a busy weekend for athletics, I just wanted to drop a couple updates for a few of our very successful teams…

WBB NEWMAC ChampThe Women’s Basketball team made a run through the NEWMAC Conference Championship, securing an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. They will take on Bowdoin College tonight at 7PM. Can’t make it up to Bowdoin to cheer them on? No problem. The game will be available online, by clicking HERE.

The Men’s Hoops team entered the NEWMAC Conference Tournament as the number one seed and it stayed that way, as they took home the title last Sunday. After their outstanding year, Babson will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament starting tonight. Babson will take on Westfield State at 7:30 PM in Staake Gymnasium. It should be a lot of fun and a great atmosphere, so feel free to come on by campus. Hey, I know the invitation is short notice, so you can also WATCH ONLINE.

Murray-2619Getting into some colder sports, with skiing and hockey, they have been quite busy as well. The Men’s Hockey Team will becompeting in the ECAC Championship on Saturday, March 7th at 7 PM. Unfortunately, I will not be making the trek up to Northfield, VT,  so I will be tuning in HERE. Babson and Norwich have quite the rivalry atop the ECAC, and will be meeting each other for the third straight conference championship.

The Men’s and Women’s Ski Teams have been competing at the National Championships in Bend, Oregon this week with two team members, Tatum Alkier and Carter Dowd, picking up All American Honors. With more awesome photos than I can post, head over to the team pages to check out some fantastic shots of our WOMEN’S and MEN’S Teams.

The Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Teams have been busy competing in the NEWMAC Championships, with Paris Ekman moving on to compete at the NCAA Regionals. Congratulations to Paris and all of our other winter athletes for a great season and best of luck to all out teams competing over the next couple of days!
