JMCFE: International Consulting Experience

Babson offers a variety of unique learning and personal development opportunities throughout the academic and over school breaks. During winter break I was fortunate to have the opportunity to take part in the Babson JMCFE Program in which we acted as consultants for a company in Switzerland. This program, similar to the MCFE program at Babson, provides the opportunity for a student team to consult for an international company over winter break and during the spring semester. JMCFE is an academic course in which two teams of three Babson students in partnership with three students from a university in Switzerland consult for an actual client company solving real problems and providing recommendations and solutions.

I started off the new year traveling to Switzerland and met with my teammates to prepare for a busy week working on the project for our client. The weekend began with a kickoff meeting, a unique cultural training program, and a quick tour of the area before getting to work. The program offered an incredible opportunity to learn about the different working styles of the two groups and insight into how to conduct international business. After spending the week meeting with the client and outlining the consulting project, a plan was developed to complete the project over the spring semester. We will be working remotely on the project before the company comes to Boston for the final presentation. Babson offers so many amazing opportunities for international learning experiences, so keep your eyes open!
