TITLE TOWN!

The road to a NEWMAC Championship now goes right through Babson Park.

Babson Athletics has had quite the last couple of weeks, as the Women’s Tennis team, the Men’s Soccer team, and the Women’s Volleyball team have all won conference championships in very exciting fashion.

The Women’s Tennis team staged a furious rally to come back and beat top-seeded MIT. The team will be headed to its first NCAA tournament after running through the NEWMAC Conference.

The Babson Men’s Soccer team took down MIT, top-seeded Wheaton, and WPI on the way to their title, and will be headed to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in seven years. Babson will actually be one of the sites hosting the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament this weekend, so if you’re in the area, or coming to check out campus, stay for the games as well; they should be a blast.

Last, but certainly not least, our Women’s Volleyball Team fought to a five-set victory over MIT in a match up of the conference’s top two seeds. As winners of Babson’s first NEWMAC Women’s Volleyball Championship, the team will be headed to Williams College to take on Colby-Sawyer in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

It is a very exciting time to be part of the Babson College community, but not just because we have been winners on the field and courts. The people having success are students we all know and support throughout their time at Babson. It is great to see students going to games and getting excited to cheer on their classmates, roommates, and friends throughout the season, and that is the type of atmosphere you have with such a tight-knit community like Babson.

So, be sure to check out some games, either in person or online, and be sure to get updates from all the team’s Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Go Beavers, and Happy Veterans Day!

Now, give it to me one more time!

UPDATE: Our Men’s Golf Team is the 2014 NECC Champion!

My apologies to our Men’s Golf Team, who wrapped up their conference championship as well as quite a few awards. Ian Notkin was selected as both the NECC Golfer of the Year and the conference Rookie of the Year, Chris Maguire and Vijay Vasandani were selected for All Conference Second Team, and Jeff Page, their Head Coach, was selected as the conference Coach of the Year.

Overall, this is the team’s third conference title since 2009 and we will be seeing the team compete in the 2015 Division III NCAA Tournament in the Spring.

Thanks to Josh MacArthur and our anonymous commentor for reminding me!
