about_joannaMassChallenge 2014 Venture Accelerator connects entrepreneurs with the resources they need to launch and succeed.  This renowned four month accelerator program provides access to world-class mentors, free office space, access to funding and in kind services, media, education and training.  I had the opportunity to learn all about the program from Joanna Meiseles (Senior Director of Operations at masschallenge, Founder of Snip-its, and Babson MBA Alum), during her visit to Babson back in February.  With a mission to catalyze a startup renaissance, masschallenge selects 128 early-stage startups (looking for high impact startups – you define your impact – any industry, any location) and provides them with:

  • Access to dedicated experts: entrepreneurs, investors, lawyers, marketers, finance professionals, to name a few.
  • Unparalleled opportunities for networking and education through curriculum based presentations, panel sessions, interactive workshops and 1:1 sessions covering various aspects and stages of building a business.
  • State of the art, collaborative workspaces complemented by social spaces enabling a free-flowing atmosphere, with support for just about every aspect of your start-up
  • $1million in cash grants to 10-20 startups in amounts of either $50 or $100K.

2014 Babson Venture Expo — Semifinalists of the B.E.T.A. (Babson Entrepreneurial Thought and Action®) Challenge will present their progress to date. Join us for one of Babson’s most action-packed events!  The Blank Center’s B.E.T.A. Challenge recognizes major milestones Babson businesses have achieved by taking action. Winners of the graduate, undergraduate and alumni B.E.T.A. Challenge will each win a grand prize of $20,000 in cash and “services in kind” donations from corporate sponsors respectively. In addition, $2,500 will be awarded to the two other finalist ventures in each of the three competitions.  The 2014 B.E.T.A. Challenge finals will be on Thursday, April 10, 2014. To register to attend the final presentations, please visit http://2014babsonbeta.eventbrite.com.
