November 1st Nears!

Planes, Trains and Passports associated with the Babson Admission Staff will be en route back to Massachusetts in just a few days, as our office wraps up the final full week of fall travel season. As Courtney mentioned in her last post, when all is said and done, our staff will have traveled 234 days, covering 26 states and 16 countries! As we unpack our bags, catch up on sleep, enjoy home-cooked meals for a change and head back to campus, we know exactly what prospective students around the country and around the globe are prepping for – November 1st!

November 1st marks the application deadline for both Early Decision (ED) and Early Action (EA) plans at Babson. Our staff is eager to start reading your applications and begin crafting the Class of 2018! With the deadline just a little over a week away, I thought maybe we could recap exactly how our early admission options work and the student profile each plan is designed for. Let’s take a look, shall we?

EARLY DECISION

Babson’s Early Decision (ED) plan allows students who have chosen Babson as their top-choice college to apply early and receive a decision in mid-December. Admitted students can enjoy the remainder of their senior year with the admission process behind them. ED applicants agree to enroll at Babson, if admitted, and are eligible to apply to other colleges’ nonbinding early admission programs. Students may apply for ED to only one college and, if admitted, must immediately withdraw all applications submitted to other institutions. Because of the strength of our ED pool, some qualified students not admitted through the ED plan may be deferred to the Regular Decision (RD) round; however, students denied during the ED process are not eligible to reapply.

  • Application Deadline: November 1* (Deadline Extended to November 8th)
  • Notification: By December 15
  • Deposit due: January 15

Early Decision candidates who have not completed the Common Application Early Decision Agreement are required to complete the Babson Early Decision Agreement Form (pdf).

EARLY ACTION

Babson’s nonbinding Early Action (EA) plan is designed for applicants who view Babson as one of their top choices. Students admitted through EA can enjoy the remainder of their senior year exploring Babson more in depth and have until May 1 to make their college choice. EA applicants are eligible to apply to other colleges’ early admission programs. Qualified students not admitted to Babson through the EA plan may be deferred to the Regular Decision round for reconsideration; however, students denied during the EA process are not eligible to reapply.

  • Application Deadline: November 1* (Deadline Extended to November 8th)
  • Notification: By January 1
  • Deposit due: May 1

*To all students applying via early admission plans to Babson, please note that Babson College has extended the Early Action / Early Decision deadline to November 8, 2013 in response to the inconveniences that students, school counselors, and colleges have experienced as a result of the Common Application’s ongoing technical challenges.

Please see Courtney’s post for more detailed information.

Our staff wishes you the best of luck with your application!
