Working and Living in Boston

It’s been a few weeks since I started living and working in the Boston area. I am happy to say that it has been a new and exciting experience for me. After school ended for the year, I had a great time back home for a couple weeks with my family and friends. Coming from the suburbs outside of Albany, NY to Babson in the Wellesley area, makes for an entirely different experience. While Babson is just outside of the Boston area, it feels like a whole new world living in the city.

The streets are always buzzing with activity, in this vibrant, youthful, and ethnically diverse place. There’s so much to see and some beautiful areas nearby. Everyday, I have the opportunity to continue my summer training for the fall cross country season by running along the Charles River, surrounded by runners of all ages. While I’m working during the week, I’ve still found great opportunities to explore the area, especially on weekends.

I’ve had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather at the beach with friends from Babson who are in the area, as well as take part in a 24-hour scavenger hunt around the city. The Scavenger Hunt, put on by the Common Boston organization had us walking all over town, answering trivia questions, taking photos, completing challenges and meeting several interesting people. This provided a great way to have fun while learning more about the area.

I’ve also been continuing my internship at Janji, a socially responsible running apparel company, throughout the week. At Janji, I’ve been involved in developing new marketing strategies including reaching out to other bloggers, video content, working to develop a brand ambassador program, race sponsorship, and ideas to reach new markets. The start-up experience is very unique, allowing the opportunity to work with a highly motivated group and get hands on experience in multiple areas.

The summer is speeding by, but there’s plenty of opportunity for adventure left!
