Bringing Together Brands and Developing Friendships
Aeffe U.S.A is comprised of six different brands: Moschino, Alberta Ferretti, Jean Paul Gautier, Cacheral, and Pollini. This summer I am interning specifically in the Ferretti showroom but what I wasn’t expecting was how much exposure I would be getting to the other brands and the chance to work with the other interns in the building. When first arriving in the Alberta Ferretti showroom both the Alberta Ferretti and the Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Pre-Spring 2013 Resort collections had arrived and my days were overwhelmingly busy running errands, steaming garments, and dressing models during sales appointments. It seemed as if the other interns and I didn’t have a second to spare during the day and would often only be assisting on our designated floors. As our sales market began slowing down towards the end of June I noticed there was less of a need for assistance on our floor and more of a need to take the initiative and offer to assist among the other brands.
This task of being assigned to projects outside of Alberta Ferretti has been one of the most rewarding parts of my internship. By working very close with the Alberta Ferretti brand during the first few weeks of my internship I was able to become familiar enough with tasks that our common with every other brand which made it easy for me carry over these responsibilities to the other floors that needed help. This also gave me the opportunity to work with the other interns on the other floors. It has been such a pleasure working with other students who share the same interests as me. I feel as if I not only learn from my supervisors but also my fellow interns. As we work on projects we discuss everything from celebrity gossip to how we see ourselves fitting in the fashion industry after school. What I admire most about the interns I work with is how we all come from such different backgrounds but are still able to combine our intellectual and creative skills to work efficiently and effectively together.
