Scheduling Conflicts

Next week, BWP will be hosting two events. On July 31st, we will have our monthly Open Mixer at Splash, followed by the New Connector Selection event on August 1st. The Connector On-Board event will be held at Joe’s on the Waterfront, and will be an interview for 40 candidates hoping to be selected as the next Connector. There is a lot of detail work that goes into organizing the event for all the candidates, so I have been focusing more in the logistics of the Selection event these past few days.

In preparation for the event, one of BWP’s directors needs to have an hour long conference call with all the Connectors interviewing candidates. After the event, there needs to be a two hour post call with all of the Connectors to discuss all of the candidates. I’ve been working on the scheduling for both the pre/post selection calls and it very difficult to find times that work for everyone’s schedules.. Even when a majority of the Connectors can make one time slot, there are always a few that will have to have individual calls as their schedules are conflicting. Just like at Babson, everyone is involved in so many other projects and has hectic schedules that it almost impossible to pick a time that works for every person. It’s also difficult to get all of the Connectors to answer emails, again a similar problem everyone has with group work at Babson. through all of my time at Babson, I have learned that communicating efficiently is very difficult, and that lesson has definitely been cemented down through my internship now.
