Halfway Point

With it approaching mid-July, my internship has been going great! BWP doesn’t have any major events coming up until the end of the month, so I’ve mostly been working on various smaller projects. BWP is hoping to launch it’s new website at the end of July, so I have been working with our Executive Director and developer to put together the final changes before the site goes live. I’ve never had any experience in information technology, so it’s been interesting to learn the terminology and design skills that go into developing a website. I’ve also been checking on the basics of the site to make sure that the content is accurate, hyperlinks are properly functioning and other attribute of the general layout of the site. This Friday, our executive director is presenting a new marketing plan to promote Boston as an innovative hub, so I’ve also been helping put together her presentation. The presentation includes plans on connecting college campuses with successful CEOs of startups, so it’s exciting to work on a presentation that parallels exactly what Babson does. It’s always interesting to learn about all of the entrepreneurial activity going on in the area and to see the actual stats representing Boston as a leading innovative city.

Every month, BWP hosts an open mixer for Connectors in our network, business people and other attendees. Connectors are expected to help plan one event, and I have the opportunity to help Nadine, a Connector who currently has her own consulting business, plan the August mixer. Since the weather had been great this summer, it would be great to have the event at an outdoor venue, so we are currently leaning towards hosting the mixer on the rooftop at Splash, located on Kneeland St in Boston. More details to come as the event gets closer!
