Week 2…

Hi everyone!

So I just finished my second week of my internship at 451 Marketing and I am starting to really get into the swing of things. Last week, I attended my first media event hosted by one of the clients, Alcea Collections, at the club Splash in Boston. The event went smoothly and it was interesting to see how a private PR event is conducted and the benefits of such event for the brand. Over the following couple of days, local editors and members of the media released various types of reviews, giving the client more publicity and exposure to the local market.

For the rest of the week, I conducted extensive market research for Party of Gold, a company that does “in-home” gold appraisals in a fun, “party-like” setting. I researched outlined different community groups and women’s social clubs in the greater Boston and New York areas. I specifically looked for organizations that would be interested in holding a “Party of Gold” and had members fell directly into the customer base. My last project for the week focused on editing and preparing a PR Briefing and Summary for Yankee Candle. The head of PR at 451 Marketing and a member of the Yankee Candle team will be heading down to New York to meet with various editors from publications to personally speak with them in regards to Yankee Candles new holiday line. I was tasked with researching each editor, the publications and any recent and relevant articles specific to the editor.

It was a relatively busy week; however I hope there is more to come for week three!
