Tweet Tweet went the Birdie, and Dean Hanno, and CCD

You may have heard the line, “It’s better to lead than to follow.”

Well, with Twitter, it’s actually better to follow…

Hopefully, by now, you are using the new CCD portlet in your portal to access a bunch of Career Related resources. At the top of the portlet, there is the CCD Twitter stream.

Twitter (www.twitter.com) is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing? These 140 character communications are called “Tweets.”By following a Twitterer, you subscribe(aka “Follow”) to receive their updates (just like RSS feeds) as soon as they are published. Several times a day we will update our Tweets online to reflect new job postings, upcoming events, and anything else we feel like sharing in 140 characters or less.

CCD is not the only one Twittering. Dean Hanno (http://twitter.com/dhanno) is doing it. Britney Spears (http://twitter.com/britneyspears) is doing it. Even Coldplay was doing it last night from the Grammys: http://twitter.com/coldplay

The goal of our Twitter stream is to provide you with quick snippits of career-related news as soon as they happen. And the great thing about Twitter is that you don’t have to log on to the twitter page (http://twitter.com/BabsonUgradCCD) to use it. You can subscribe to receive tweets as texts using your mobile phone or just by visiting the portal.

A number of companies have been using Twitter too. JetBlue (http://twitter.com/JetBlue) uses twitter to update passengers to service changes. Starbuck’s (http://twitter.com/Starbucks) twitters to engage customers on new products and services. Even CNN and Boston.com publish news updates through their twitter stream.

So be a follower: Here’s a list of some other companies who are “tweeting”:
