Setting Up Families for Success

Volunteering is always fulfilling because it is doing work for a cause. I enjoyed working for Habitat for Humanity because I thoroughly appreciate the cause of helping provide proper housing for underprivileged but deserving families and building communities that help to eradicate poverty. Habitat for Humanity screens families extensively before they get a home. They also require that homeowners complete “sweat equity” hours, which are volunteer hours where homeowners volunteer on the construction site. Homeowners also take classes on personal finance, budgeting, home maintenance, etc. All of these requirements help to increase the success of families to get out of poverty and build a sustainable lifestyle.
