Quick Bites Food Education

The world of foodertainment is heating up. Below are four channels, two for this weekend, two beyond, for “quick bite” learning about the food industry and the food system surrounding it:

  1. This Saturday, TEDx Manhattan: Changing the Way We Eat hosts its fourth annual summit, with food-system pioneers and problem-solvers from across the country speaking about their work. You don’t have to be in New York to attend. TEDx Manhattan is live-streaming the day.
  2. Real Food Media concludes its Top 10 “Short Films. Big Ideas” contest with voting closes this Sunday at 11:59 p.m. Top prize is $5,000 and a spot at the Food & Farm Film Fest in April. Watch, learn and vote for your favorite film here.
  3. One of my longtime favorite food educators Lexicon of Sustainability, in partnership with PBS, has launched the “Know Your Food” web series.  Every Thursday through June, they’ll post a new short food film.
  4. In another partnership, Chipotle and Hulu have teamed up on an original comedy series Farmed and Dangerous, exploring the “outrageously twisted and utterly unsustainable world of industrial agriculture.”
