Babson Students Accepted to CGI U

Decisions are in from the Clinton Global Initiative University and we are delighted to have 12 Babson students accepted to attend the 2014 Annual Meeting. CGI U has the potential to be such a transformative event on its own, but when you combine it with a cohort experience like this one, the possibilities are limitless.

Venture: Recesspreneurs, Inc.
Focus: Education
Headline: Recesspreneurs is an after-school program which empowers disadvantaged youth by teaching life skills through entrepreneurship.

Jeremy Cai

Venture: Sprout Bin
Focus: Environment and Climate Change
Headline: Sprout introduces composting into small residential areas where traditional composting would be impossible.

Rene Del Castillo

Venture: H2knO Championing Water — “Better Hydration. Better Health”
Focus: Public Health
Headline: H2knO will develop a smart water bottle and complimentary software for Grupo Bimbo– the largest bread company in the world.

Brian Hickey

Venture: Engeye Inc.
Focus: Poverty Alleviation
Headline: Engeye provides business and vocational opportunities to families and individuals in rural Uganda.

Irene Laochaisri

Venture: Isara
Focus: Peace and Human Rights
Headline: Isara is a theater company that will produce pieces addressing the complexities of human trafficking, encouraging business leaders and entrepreneurs to reflect on how they are impacting or can impact it both positively and negatively.

Venture: Ya Si! for Change
Focus: Poverty Alleviation
Headline: Ya Si! will provide summer internships for high school girls (11th-12th grade) in Bajos de Haina, Dominican Republic with nearby businesses in order to obtain skills that will allow them to start and maintain professional careers.

Savitha Sridharan (MBA)

Venture: Aurora
Focus: Environment and Climate Change
Headline: Aurora is focused on reducing the use of kerosene lamps and hazardous fuel to light up the house or to cook in rural communities in India.

Nitiya Walker

Venture: Seeds of Fortune
Focus: Education
Headline: The Seeds of Fortune Scholarship Program teaches high school juniors and seniors strategic methods of searching and applying for college scholarships in New York City.
