Moveable Feast: Food Sol’s Community Table grows in Boston

Food Sol’s first Community Table Boston last Thursday was a huge hit. For a conversation on entrepreneurial opportunities in Boston urban agriculture, folks turned out from Tufts, BU, Harvard Law School, Babson, Wellesley College, the Mayor’s Office, City Growers, and Shape Up Somerville to participate. Local marketer and farmers’ market maven Myrna Greenfield wrote about it!

Oddly enough, Boston was not Food Sol’s first move outside Babson. Last fall, we hosted three Community Tables in New York City – two at the School of Visual Arts and one at NYU. SVA just tweeted about how students of design and entrepreneurship came together to share and spread food ideas.

Community Table Boston meets weekly on Thursdays from 10-11:30 a.m. at Babson Boston (253 Summer Street, 3rd Floor – right by South Station).  These Thursday Tables downtown do not replace Wednesday Tables at Babson: they’re in addition.

Starter topics, featured guests and attendees will vary.  In every case, our aim is to draw together all students of food and food-systems from across Boston and across disciplines for a rich, diverse discussion with food entrepreneurs of all kinds.

As always, Community Table is one table, one conversation, once a week, in-person participation only. Discussion is entirely driven by those seated around the table.  And we’re always come-when-you-can, leave-when-you-need-to.

We don’t do formal presentations at Community Table.  Just a great conversation focused on building up good food ideas and resources, teaching each of us something new, and helping those who come seeking the Table’s guidance to make progress.

This Thursday at Community Table Boston, we’ll be talking about what food entrepreneurs need.  Details at: http://www.foodsol.org
