Babson College Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams in Sweet 16 This Weekend
Babson College is one of only 5 schools with both men’s basketball and women’s basketball in NCAA Division III Tournament semifinals. (The other four are Christopher Newport, Hope, Tufts and Whitman.)
MEN
Men’s Hoops (27-2), who are one of just two teams to advance to the Sweet 16 in each of the last three seasons, will host 14th-ranked Tufts University (22-6) in the second of two sectional semifinal contests at 8 p.m. on Friday on the Wellesley campus.
The winner of Friday’s games will meet on Saturday at 7 p.m. with the winner earning a berth to the national semifinals on March 17 in Salem, Va.
Tickets for each session are $10 for adults and $5 for students, senior citizens and children, and the gym will be cleared out between games on Friday night.
WOMEN
The Babson College women’s basketball team, which defeated No. 25 FDU-Florham, 63-62, in overtime in a NCAA Tournament second round contest on Saturday, will travel to Amherst College for the sectional round of the 2017 championship this coming weekend.
The Beavers (24-5), who are making their first Sweet 16 appearance since 2011 and the program’s fifth overall, will face top-ranked Amherst (29-0) in the second of two sectional semifinals on Friday at 7 p.m.
The winner of Friday’s games will meet on Saturday at 6 p.m. with the winner earning a berth to the national semifinals on March 17 in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Tickets will be sold at the door and are $7 for adults and $4 for students, senior citizens and children.
