Poets & Quants Names Babson College the No. 1 Undergraduate Business School in New England; Top 20 Nationwide

Park Manor West

Babson College is the top undergraduate business school in New England and No. 18 nationwide in Poets & Quants’ inaugural Best Undergraduate Business Programs of 2016.

Babson is also the only college in the top 20 institutions ranked—all others are business schools within larger universities.

According to Poets & Quants:

Babson College is the only business-only school [included in the] ranking. The school only offers one degree, but students may choose from 27 concentration areas that include business discipline stalwarts like accounting and marketing but also unique areas like historical and political studies and environmental sustainability. Students get a base of liberal arts education, but the hallmark of the program from the get-go is [its] trademarked Entrepreneurial Thought & Action® [methodology].

Of the nearly 700 undergraduate business programs accredited by the AACSB, Poets & Quants ranked the top 50. The publication shares that this select group of institutions “make up the top seventh percentile of all accredited undergraduate business experiences…All are producing well-rounded and highly sought-after graduates by the world’s most admired employers.”

The undergraduate business schools were equally ranked on three criteria:

  1. Admissions standards—including average SAT scores, acceptance rates, and percentage of incoming students who were in the top 10 percent of their high school classes.
  2. Academic experienced as judged by alumni—based on feedback about the worthiness of their degree, the school’s extracurricular offerings, and the availability and helpfulness of faculty, staff, and fellow alumni.
  3. Employment outcomes—which weighed the percentage of students with internships prior to senior year, the percentage with jobs three months after graduation, and the average salary and bonus of a graduate.
