Babson Alumni Entrepreneurs continue to impact Boston’s startup arena.   On Oct. 28th, MassChallenge, the no-equity startup accelerator, announced the winners of the MassChallenge Boston 2015 accelerator program, awarding $1.5 million in grants to 16 startups (out of 128).Alex Hardy M’01 and co-founder Jim Miller were $50K Gold Winners for their venture Nix86, a cloud based, universal ordering platform for the foodservice industry. Restaurants and suppliers rely on fax-phones-email to manage 1B orders a year; Nix86’s B2B cloud solution modernizes it all with ease. By aligning the interests of restaurants and foodservice distributors, Nix86 streamlines the ordering and fulfillment process saving both parties significant time and money.

Hardy is the former President of FiRE+iCE, a Back Bay family restaurant favorite.  He has run a wide variety of Food and Beverage operations on both the restaurant and supplier side.

Over 1,500 members of the Boston startup community gathered to celebrate entrepreneurship at the sixth-annual MassChallenge Boston Awards Ceremony. The event featured a showcase of the 128 MassChallenge Boston startups, pitches from the top 26, and speeches from DraftKings CEO and Co-Founder Jason Robins, Governor Charlie Baker and Mayor Marty Walsh.

Nix86 now joins an esteemed group of alumni, which includes 835 companies from around the world. Since 2010, startups accelerated by MassChallenge have raised $1.1 billion in funding, generated $520 million in revenue and created 6,500 jobs.
