ES Marketplace-How It Works

Name of Business:
EnergySage

Located:
Cambridge, MA

Inspiration/ Business:
I always had a strong passion for and interest in clean energy technologies. We wanted to build a solution that would help make this a no-brainer for any homeowner or business owner so that the mass-market could embrace these new technologies.

How The Idea Began:
We were providing consulting services to individuals and businesses and recognized a strong need for education and guidance, so we started building an online solution in order to have a national impact. We pitched the idea to the Department of Energy and they loved it; they wrote a check for $500,000 to help us build it!

Favorite Thing About The Business:
The ability to have a meaningful and positive impact! Loving what you do is the key to creating something that others love too!

Worst Thing About The Business:
Naysayers – people who think your market doesn’t exist or that you are crazy. I don’t hear them anymore! However, they are a critical part of the process because criticism forces you to dig deeper and further validate your model.

Most Recent Business Accomplishment:
A partnership with the Sierra Club to promote solar energy to businesses! They are an awesome ally for EnergySage and they have been with us since the very beginning. We love the Sierra Club!
