Extreme MBAs

MBA students Jim Burke and Ben Mackay take their entertainment seriously.  Ben, a former guide for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and Jim, a graduate of the Naval Academy who also served in the Marine Corps, had a lot of kicks together scaling the highest Mountain peak in the Americas ….that be Mt. Acacongua (more than 22,000 feet) which nestles in the Andes near Mendoza, Argentina.

These MBAs don't trek lightly either…arriving at base camp Dec. 28th and summiting on January 9th.  Ben said the challenge was both physical and mental.  “It was the hardest thing I've ever done and a great example of how one's perspective can affect the outcome of a situation…I always maintained my perspective on my goal and it pulled me through.”

Jim relied heavily on his intuitive instincts. “I listened to my body and never panicked, placing one foot in front of the other.”  An additional bit of advice from Jim– “Choose your climbing partner wisely!”
