What’s DetraPel?
DetraPel is a super hydrophobic liquid repellent spray that protects any material from any liquid based substance. DetraPel is the only liquid repellent that is non-toxic, biodegradable, and eco-friendly. One application lasts one year.
What is the story behind your startup?
[David] started this DetraPel after selling his first real business called LickYourSole. The idea for LickYourSole came when David realized he hated getting his shoes dirty. LickYourSole focused on cleaning and conditioning shoes for local university sports teams. David sold LickYourSole after running it for 4 months and started DetraPel right after – eliminating the need to clean his shoes.
What’s been a big milestone/accomplishment you’ve made since Summer Venture Program started?
We made 6 figures in revenue.
What’s been a big obstacle/surprise that you faced?
How long it would take to get deals closed and the difficulty conducting relevant market research.
Any tips for aspiring entrepreneurs that you want to share?
Just get started doing things – nothing is worse than regretting something you could have done.
