Shaping your Internship Experience

Even though it is not the internship you imagined for this summer, it is still important to make the most out of it. There is a lot to learn no matter what the industry is or what the size of the company is. So, instead of wasting your time, waking up every morning grumpy, try to see the great side of it. I did not expect the internship I am doing currently, however, I have learned so much that I now feel like it was my best choice. I am currently interning for a foundation that educates farmers on growing coffee. During my internship, I have had the opportunity to go on the field, to talk to the farmers and learn about how the foundation has changed their lives. The foundation has provided them with the proper equipment and proper knowledge to increase their harvest. The foundation also has partners who now provide market for the farmers to sell their cherries. Did you know about the whole process of making coffee? I did not. Despite the fact that every morning I grab my coffee from the dining hall before going to class. I could not help but imagine that some of it might have come from my country, Burundi. In fact, the partners as I mentioned previously work with coffee houses that, in turn create coffee blends from all over the world. The next time you take a sip of your coffee, try to imagine its origin; you might be amazed at places you never even imagined. Thanks to this internship, I became aware of this whole process while also learning from their Accounting and Finance department.
