Fast Fashion takes Planning
When most people think about the retail industry, operations and planning is usually not the first thing that comes to mind. In reality, operational planning is the major key to success for most fast fashion and off-price retail companies and Ross is no exception to that. It has been three weeks since I have started my internship with Ross and everyday I am learning about how crucial planning is to the success of the company. One of the most important things I have come to realize is how crucial trending and data are to the Company.
If the right product doesn’t get to the right customer at the right time the business is failing to give value to their customer and this is where I come in. On the planning side at Ross my job focuses around ensuring that the correct amount of product is allocated to the correct regions for the given period of time. This is so much more intricate than it seems on the surface level. Ross has very specific software and process unique to them in regards to their planning and operations. These last few weeks I have been receiving training on Ross’s unique process and software and will soon be putting all my new knowledge to practice for my final project!
