Cross-Departmental Internship Lessons

As I look back on my internship experience from this summer, I have noticed a common thread between all of my past internships. With each position, I have taken away important lessons from cross-departmental collaboration. This summer at IMPACT Melanoma was no exception. Specifically, I had the opportunity to work with the Events & Program Manager and Coordinator. I was able to help them plan and execute various events, such as the organization’s annual golf tournament. While these projects were not directly related to my business development role, they were enjoyable and taught me more about event planning. I was eager to get a taste of another side of the organization.

Working outside of my department has consistently proven to be an interesting and fun learning experience. When time allows to collaborate with different coworkers that possess unique skill sets, exciting growth happens.
