First Week at Hope and Comfort

Hi, my name is Rachel Green and I am working for Hope and Comfort, a non-profit in Newton, Massachusetts as a Strategy Intern over the summer.  At Babson, I am a rising Senior actively involved in Women Giving Back and The Center for Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership.  I am very excited to work with a non-profit over the summer that has such a big impact in the Greater Boston area.

Hope and Comfort’s mission is to provide essential personal care products to support and improve the health and self-esteem of adults and children in need within Greater Boston. What makes Hope and Comfort unique from other organizations is that it is the only one in New England that focuses solely on personal care products, which is a huge area of need in low-income communities. The Managing Director here is a double beaver from Babson. I connected with Hope and Comfort through my previous volunteer efforts in Rwanda focused around education.

My first week at Hope and Comfort has been exciting and busy! My main role as a Strategy Intern is to design an outreach system for sourcing new products as well as to build a strategic plan for future growth. So far this week I have been able to sit in on meetings with our board members discussing partnerships with large corporations and distribute products to our local food pantry partners. I have also been researching the best practices of corporate sponsorship and shifting trends of corporate volunteerism in order to adjust our offerings to our partners. There’s so much to do here and I’m so excited that I get to wear many hats.

Can’t wait to see what next week holds!
