Competition Time for Winter Sports Teams!

Although winter remains in full swing here in Boston, it is that time of year that the winter sports teams begin heading towards their post season championships! Here at Babson, we have 22 Varsity sports between the men’s and women’s teams and among them we have the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams, Men’s Hockey team, Men’s and Women’s Swim teams, and the Men’s and Women’s Alpine Ski teams for competing winter sports.

It is a big weekend for the Alpine Ski teams with the USCSA Eastern Conference Regional Championships at West Mountain in New York. Both teams will compete for their place in the National Championships at Mt. Bachelor in Oregon! This year is especially exciting for the Women’s Alpine team as it is the first time in 17 years that they will be going to the Regional Championships and the men’s team is also hoping to win the regional championships for the third year in a row!

This weekend also marks the NEWMAC Championships for the men’s and women’s swim teams where they will compete for the NEWMAC title. Men’s Ice Hockey, who is currently ranked third in the conference, will have their ECAC East Tournament Quarterfinals this Saturday and will hopefully be moving onto the Semifinals a week from Saturday. The Basketball teams are both finishing off their regular season games and will be moving on to compete in the NEWMAC Quarterfinals a week from today. The Women’s team is currently ranked second in the league and the men’s team is ranked first.

Overall, the winter sport teams have had great seasons so far and good luck to everyone in the upcoming post season competitions! Make sure to follow the championship competitions on babsonathletics.com and follow @babsonathletics on Twitter for continuous updates on all the teams!
