First few weeks at Viacom
I’ve been at Viacom for about 4 weeks now. It’s been quite a ride. I work in the ad sales department which is a field I knew nothing about prior to this internship. I took the job because I wanted to learn as much as I can about advertising and media. I’ve been learning a lot. My supervisors are clearly very intelligent people. I’ve sat by them as they were working and saw how swiftly they took care of tasks, answered phone calls, and sent out emails. This set the bar pretty high for me. I felt like I was expected to be just as good as them. However, that pressure was self induced. Everyone has let me work at a comfortable speed and given me as much work as possible without burdening me. For confidentiality reasons, I cant disclose what I’ve been working on but it has been a strong learning experience.
