My Tan Has Faded… Now What?

This post was written by Jaclyn Gaines ’16, CCD Peer Career Ambassador.

So it has been two weeks since we returned to Babson from Spring Break. We exchanged warm sunshine for cooler New England temperatures. We left sandy beaches to head to classrooms. And, our tans slowly faded as reality struck that the semester is quickly winding down.

And now the panic sets in… What am I going to do this summer? Is it too late to apply to internships? My resume isn’t updated! Where do I start my search?

Just take a deep breath and relax. There is still plenty of time to achieve your career goals for the upcoming summer. Here are a few steps you can take to kick start your summer search!

1. Update Your Resume

For some of you, it may have been an entire year since you have taken a look at your resume. Make sure to update it with any cool things you did throughout the year. Summer jobs, new clubs you joined, leadership positions you took on… Take this time to reflect on what you have been doing the past year and make sure to convey it on your resume. And, if you get stuck, CCD is here to help – Bring your resume in to our Walk-In Hours on Mon/Wed 10am – 1pm and Tues/Thurs 1pm – 4pm.

2. Network & Internship Search

Think back to all of the exciting people you met during Spring Break… Make any connections? Talk to anyone on the airplane? Leverage the people in your network to help you in your search. You never know where a simple conversation could lead. Also be sure to check Career Connections daily. New postings are still being added every day, so don’t miss a deadline to apply to your dream internship!

3. APPLY!

Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Every application you submit and every interview you do are learning experiences that only help you improve with time. So be bold, take risks, and apply!

Keep positive, work hard, utilize the resources available to you at CCD, and you will be well on your way to achieving your dream internship this summer!
