Why should you attend the Accounting Concentration Dinner on April 10th?

This blog was written by Lena Wu, Accounting Club Director.

Babson Accounting Club partners with the Accounting and Law Division and Undergraduate Center for Career Development to host its annual Accounting Concentration Dinner.  At this event, students are provided the opportunity to casually network with professionals to get a better sense of potential careers and opportunities for accounting concentration students at Babson College.

As a first-year student, I heard about this event through Professor Coyle, who always encouraged us to participate in on-campus events, especially accounting-related ones. I attended the dinner at his suggestion, and at the event, I received exposure to concentration-specific information and had the opportunity to speak to three out of the eight alumni and professionals from various sectors of accounting. The casual dinner encouraged me to start thinking about my concentration relatively early in my college career, and I was able to learn about first-hand experiences and individual career paths in private industry and public accounting firms. Generally, I found the accounting concentration especially empowering as underclassmen, especially in the space we were provided Later that week, I registered for my second accounting course – Intermediate Accounting I – for the fall of my sophomore year. Having finished the course and planned my accounting curriculum earlier on, I am able to study abroad and still complete my concentration and graduation requirements on time.

If you are interested in receiving more information about the accounting concentration, speaking to interesting individuals, or learning more about public accounting in general, please register using the following link: http://goo.gl/V0S2bM

Seats are limited, and dinner will be provided. In order to show a little respect to the professionals who are likely coming from work, please dress smart casual (i.e. jeans, blouses, polo shirts, etc.) or business casual.
