High Five for Week Five!

Although I’m excited to have made it to the middle of my 5th week at JA New York (JANY), with my final day just over a week away, the real “high-five” goes to JA New York.

Monday morning’s all staff meeting consisted of praises to the fellow interns, announcements regarding upcoming events, but most importantly, announcements regarding new funding initiatives that will open doors for JA New York in new and exciting ways. Of those funding announcements, one that’s really exciting is that a donor awarded JANY with enough funds to award its student of the year with a scholarship for the next several years.

Every year for the next 10 years or so, one student from either NYC or LI will be named JANY’s Student of the Year in addition to receiving scholarship money to attend the college of his or her choice. Competition will certainly be on the rise. Again, hats off and high five to JA!

This past year’s Student of the Year was Josuel Plasencia, rising freshman at (you guessed right) the ONE and ONLY, Babson College! He will join us in the January GAP Enrollment program. High five, Josuel!

As my departure draws nigh, things are picking up here for the Finance and Administration team. I’m currently in between two projects that both require a huge attention to detail. On one hand, I’m ensuring that financial statements are uploaded to the drive and on the other hand, I’m reconciling the numbers between our Raiser’s Edge Software and Peachtree Accounting Software.

This is all in preparation for September’s audit. The auditors will be here for three whole weeks!

If you’ve been reading all my post, you’ve noticed that I’ve also been having some fun this summer too. My aunt once told me, all work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy.

NYCSendOff

To that point, I managed to make it to the NYC Summer Send-Off for the class of 2017. That was ultra-fun. I was able to connect with alumni, current students, and off course, new students as well.

And…tonight, I will be attending the Posse Foundation’s Internship Celebration, where I will connect with NYC’s Finest Scholars from some of the nation’s elite institutions. Of course, Babson Posse’s will be there to represent! Tonight will be, for the lack of a better word, epic!

Until next time,
