Making Connections in San Francisco

In early April, I travelled with a group of Babson students and staff to San Francisco for the 4th Annual Babson Connect event! The Babson Connect event brings together alumni, current students (MBA & UG) and employers. The event took place on Thursday, April 4th and consisted of a CCD networking hour, followed by an exciting panel of entrepreneurs. Dean Hanno kicked off the CCD networking portion of the event with well over 100 people in attendance at the Fast Track Babson campus. The room was full of high energy and excitement and plenty of familiar Babson faces. We had 13 employers (some of which were Babson Alums!) acting as table hosts there to network with current students. Some of the companies represented were Salesforce.com, The Gap, Inflection, Stone Turn Group, Stella&Dot, Intel, Accenture and Facebook.

In addition to the Babson Connect event, we brought a group of MBA students to visit LinkedIn and Google in Mountain View, which is approximately 1 hour from San Francisco. It was very exciting to be on the LinkedIn and Google Campus. Both company visits were excellent and allowed us to get a glimpse into just how innovative and creative these companies really are. The companies are right next to one another and it felt as though we were walking through a college campus—it was beautiful! One thing that was obvious at both of the firms is that they really care for their employees and value their creativity. It is definitely true what you’ve probably heard, these companies provide employees with all of the amenities! From unlimited food, band room, games, bikes….you name it, it’s probably available to you at work!

If you are interested in working in the San Francisco Bay Area in the technology space, I’m happy to meet with you and talk about your interests and how I can be of help to you in your job search. It is a beautiful city with more and more Babson alumni there each year. There are some fantastic opportunities in this growing space!
