Don’t Call it a Comeback, I’ve Been Here for Years

First off, I applied to colleges in 1997.  Do you know what was going on in 1997? Hold on while I Google 1997 stuff…Return of the Mack was a top Billboard hit, which you really can’t argue with because it’s a jam.  Tim Duncan was drafted first overall in the NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs and wore this suit/shirt combo, which I think I wore to my eighth grade graduation:

Tim Duncan knows Babson is ranked #1 in Entrepreneurship too.

I have to accept the fact that it was a different time, but at least Tim Duncan is still playing.  And guess what?  I’m blogging.  It REALLY is a different time.  So, you can rest assured that I’m not sitting here waiting to stamp “REJECTED!” on the next application.  I’m actually going through your applications, getting to know you as much as I can, and I am human, so I’m also spending time procrastinating by researching things that happened 15 years ago.

Now, back to where I probably should have started.  My name is James Dewey-Rosenfeld and I am an Associate Director of Undergraduate of Admission.  I am now in my 6th year at Babson and 11th year in the field of Undergraduate Admission.  I am involved in a few different areas within our office, including working with our recruited athletes, coordinating counselors for their fall and spring travel to meet prospective students, and I am a member of our International Admission Team.  I have been fortunate enough to travel to 47 different countries in Europe, Central and South America, and Asia and I am always amazed at the international community and diversity here at Babson.  So, I’m happy to cover any admission topics and questions as well as how our international community fits into admission and Babson College as a whole.  I am also fine talking about TV shows or sports, which I think I probably watch too much of anyway.  I hope this will give you some firsthand insight into the admission process, since that’s what we’re here for!  Always feel free to leave a topic idea in the comments section or e-mail me directly at jdeweyrosenfeld@babson.edu.

A few personal fun facts before I leave the blog for the day…

  • My Favorite band is The Black Keys, who were on my concert bucket list until last March when I saw them live in Boston.
  • My favorite current TV show is The Walking Dead, closely followed by It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia (I know those two couldn’t be more different).
  • I have anointed myself around the office as The YouTube Picasso, so expect some embedded videos for the sake of comedy when they match the topic.
  • I am the Commissioner of our office’s Fantasy Football League and I won the League Championship this year (a fact that I will try to bring up as much as possible)!

So, as I mentioned, I have been known to procrastinate, which shouldn’t be a problem this weekend with the two NFL Conference Championship games being played (GO PATRIOTS!).  How do you procrastinate?  I’m always open to suggestions.
