Undergraduate Blog / Defining Your Babson

To Go Greek?

Hi Everyone! My name is Allie and I am a junior here at Babson. I am going to be blogging periodically to give you the inside scoop of what Babson is truly like from a student’s perspective. We are now a few weeks into the fall semester and getting involved on campus is something that seems to be on everyone’s minds. We have over 90 clubs and organizations so there is definitely a lot to choose from no matter what your interests are. Some of the most new member recruiting on campus recently has been done by the members of Babson Greek life.

We have 3 sororities and 4 fraternities, each of which hold their own unique values and traditions but together are a group of leaders within the Babson community through academics, athletics, community service, and more. Anyone who is considering joining Greek life will go through the formal recruitment process. Fraternity recruitment is a little more informal while sorority recruitment is a formal 5 day process, but both are based on mutual selection and getting to know each chapter. Those going through the process are highly encouraged to be themselves and find the organization that is the right fit for them. Both fraternity and sorority recruitment ends with Bid Day, where those going through the recruitment process receive bids to become new members of the various organizations. Bid Day was this past Sunday, and all of the members of the Greek community couldn’t wait to welcome all of their new members! We are all extremely excited to see the contributions they will make to our organizations and community as a whole.
