Undergraduate Blog / Defining Your Babson

Moving Right Along

Campus is bustling right now. Everyone is going through the usual motions for the semester. In addition to being wrapped up in homework, meetings, and projects, a lot of neat events are going on. Yesterday was the FME Business Fair – the annual sales kickoff for all the freshmen FME classes. After attending the fair, some of my favorite ideas this time around are EZ Wash Bags, Babson Golf, and the company selling caffeinated gum (I really like how minty it is). I have to say, many of the booths at the fair were pretty cool. There was no lack of free food or bubbles. Some businesses had TV screens set up with slideshows and commercials. One even had a bank of computers so you could try out their wireless computer mice and another, a putting green. I definitely can’t wait to see what the results are at the end of the semester.

Also going on right now, as I write this, is the annual Internship Fair sponsored by the Center for Career Development. Many companies are all set up in Knight Auditorium ready to recruit interns for summer and semester positions. The fair is open to all undergraduate students and opportunities abound in a variety of industries – from non-profits to multi-million dollar corporations to entrepreneurial startups. There is something for just about anyone.

Personally, I’m gearing up for the approaching winter storm (snow! yay!) and four day weekend as Babson celebrates President’s Day. The negative is that I may have to make the 6 hour trek home to get my driver’s license renewed – yet another downside I have found to turning the ripe old age of 22.
