Is Spring Finally Here?
Hello readers! I usually post about happenings at Babson, but I thought I would deviate from the norm today.
I am looking out my window at Wellesley Ave, noticing a particular occurrence. There are runners in shorts out there! Is spring finally here? Did the groundhog predict wrong? Regardless, that only means one thing- a lunchtime run is in order.
Currently, I am training for the Boston Marathon, which will be held on April 20th, Patriot’s Day here in Massachusetts. It is my second favorite holiday after the Fourth of July! The marathon pretty much shuts down the entire eastern portion of Massachusetts, as over 25,000 runners make their way from Hopkinton to the finish line in Copley Square. Pretty much every college near the route (Babson included) has a cheering section along the course, and it is common to see area student running the race.
This year’s marathon will be my third Boston and my fifth marathon. (Knock on wood, if I complete it, I will be one ahead of my husband!) As great as that day is, it requires much hard before then to prepare my body for that day. Hence, I am sitting here figuring out my run for today. Should I head out to the actual marathon route, which is one mere mile from our campus? Or, should I hit the Wellesley trails and spend some time with nature? Regardless, I will be sporting my winter white legs in some shorts for today’s outing.
