Developing Entrepreneurial Leadership in the Social Sector

West Creek Ranch

Next week, Cheryl will be headed to the West Creek Ranch in Montana as part of a new offering in partnership with the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, Babson Executive Education, and School of Visual Arts to work with the social sector.

The Lewis Institute has created a new certificate program through Babson Executive Education around “Entrepreneurial Leadership in the Social Sector.” Drawing on the principles of Entrepreneurial Thought and Action® (ET&A™) and Social Design, Entrepreneurial Leadership in the Social Sector will help nonprofit and social sector leaders develop the critical thinking, entrepreneurial leadership, and personal resources to advance the mission of their organizations.

Participants in next week’s program are grantees of the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, with half coming from Georgia and half from Montana. This experiential learning venue will draw upon the frameworks of ET&A and social design, and will integrate the natural environment and the beauty surrounding the West Creek Ranch. Our Senior Fellow in Social Innovation and partner from SVA, Cheryl Heller, will be co-leading the session along with Cheryl Kiser.

We agree with Albert Einstein in that “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” The complex issues we’re facing demand new perspectives, methods, and relationships. We’ve chosen to meld these frameworks—ET&A, social design, and the natural environment—because we believe participants will go back to their organizations with a new way to solve problems, address challenges, and create new opportunities for their stakeholders.
