2015 In the Field

By Cheryl Kiser, Executive Director of The Lewis Institute and Babson Social Innovation Lab.

Just 3 weeks into the New Year and it feels like things are already in full swing. We hope that the holidays were a peaceful and reflective time and you return to your work energized and full of renewed purpose. Here at The Lewis Institute, we’ve been laying the groundwork for a productive spring out in the field. This past week I was in NYC co- hosting a dinner conversation with Cheryl Heller, the Chair of the first MFA in Social Innovation at the School of Visual Arts. We talked about what happens when social design and entrepreneurial thinking come together for good inside corporations.

Here are some of the places you’ll find us in the coming year:

Universities Fighting World Hunger 10th Annual Summit – February 20-22, 2015
University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario
Wildhearts Founder and 2014 Lewis Institute Social Innovator Award winner, Mick Jackson, will be a keynote speaker at the Universities Fighting World Hunger Annual Summit. In addition, I’m thrilled to be on a panel discussing the role of academia in addressing these issues.

I am thrilled to have President Healey joining for her 2nd year representing college presidents in the leadership of Ashoka Changemaker campuses.

This spring, I will be traveling to Miami with an impressive group of 12 Babson students whose commitments to action have earned them acceptance to this dynamic, motivating weekend.

The Business of Sports Conference – March 28-29, 2015
Babson College, Sorenson Theater
We’re excited to bring Shooting Touch‘s 3rd annual Spring Sports Conference to Babson for the first time March 28 – 29, 2015. In addition to providing current college students and young professionals access to the inner workings of the notoriously competitive sports world, we will be showcasing social innovation in sports and the power of using sports for good.

Academy of Management Annual Meeting – August 7-11, 2015
Vancouver, British Columbia
Jan Shubert and I will be presenting on using ET&A to design our course, Social Value Creation Matters, and how our book Creating Social Value was an outcome and teaching innovation.

We look forward to continuing to build relationships, programs, and interactions that create and amplify social innovation designs for business and entrepreneurs.
