Habitat El Salvador – Rachel

Today’s highlight for me was a futbol match against a local health clinic with our masons and Harvard students volunteering at a neighboring site. I’m proud to say Team Habitat prevailed with a 6-4 victory. Our field was on military base near the border of El Salvador and Guatemala. As the sun was setting, I went to take a picture of colors over mountain tops and of the valley and I saw the guards singing the El Salvador national anthem. Before the game our group was prepared to lose dramatically because we had been challenged to a soccer game against the Harvard group, against the masons and against the clinic. There was no way nine students with limited soccer skills would be able to win that impromptu round robin. But all of Habitat teaming up together after a long day on our houses was an amazing way to end the day!
