Babson’s Play Business And HubCharge Finalists In National RECESS Pitch Competition
Babson student businesses Play Business and HubCharge are among the 15 college startup finalists of the RECESS Pitch Competition in Los Angeles. Babson is the only college to place two startups among the finalists of this national competition.

HubCharge also took honors in the special category: Travel
Prize: Southwest Airlines, one of the most honored airlines in the world and one which continues to differentiate itself from other air carriers with exemplary Customer Service delivered to more than 100 million Customers annually, is sponsoring a special pitch category. One student or team of two students will be provided roundtrip travel to New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco to seek funding from investors for their winning idea. The individual or team will also be invited to Southwest Airlines Headquarters in Dallas to discuss their idea.
Category Description: Southwest Airlines will recognize a student or team of two students at the RECESS Pitch Finals in Los Angeles whose idea embodies Southwest’s purpose, “connecting People to what’s important in their lives through friendly, reliable, and low-cost air travel.” Ideas should incorporate ways to innovate the customer experience in the travel industry, addressing Customer needs along with Customer expectations. The winning student or team of two, will best link their concept or platform with a way to execute operationally.
RECESS is a Music + Ideas Festival that brings together successful entrepreneurs, the coolest new startups, and the hottest acts in music to colleges. RECESS Field Trip is powered by Southwest Airlines. Teams were narrowed down from 15 to 5 at the Startup Playground and the top 5 teams pitched to an elite panel of Investors, VCs, and Brands including Mark Cuban Companies, Upfront Ventures, BAM Ventures, Techstars, Karlin Ventures, United Talent Agency, Southwest Airlines, Softlayer, and more!
