Highlights from the 2017 Black Affinity Network Leadership Retreat

From June 2-4 2017, more than 60 Babson student leaders, alumni, faculty, and staff gathered for the Black Affinity Network Leadership Retreat in Washington, D.C. The retreat was a professional development opportunity for participants in the Alumni Advisor Program as well as for the governing boards of the multiple student organizations within Babson’s Black Affinity Network.

The weekend featured a trip to the National Museum of African American History and Culture and a meaningful chance for the community to bond, reflect, and be inspired. Participants ranged from alums from the Class of 1998 to incoming first year students in the Class of 2021, and was organized by Leticia Stallworth ’99, MBA ‘13.

Sessions throughout the retreat focused on goal setting and planning for the coming academic year, as well as hearing from faculty and speakers. One session explored how to bring an “it takes a village” mentality to one’s career, while another focused on specific goal setting and how to boldly take action, while a third was dedicated to the different ways that power, authority, and influence shape every day relationships.
